Auto-programs (automatic operations)

Overview

Auto-programs let you schedule automatic lock operations for specific times and days. Use them to set the lock to stay engaged during business hours or to temporarily block guest cards.

Auto-programs are configured from the tab "Other" (for multi-user subscriptions the user must have “Auto-programs” permission).

Requirements

Automatic programs require updated devices.
These are the devices and their firmware requirements:

  • eSIGNO 2.x handles: CSNRP499+CSBGM621 or CSNRP505+CSBGM621
  • Wall reader 2.0: CSNRP499+CSBGM621 or CSNRP505+CSBGM621
  • eCylinder (HW 2.2.13): CSCYB114
  • eCylinder (HW 2.2.16): CSCYC114

If in doubt, consult an authorized technician to verify whether these requirements are met or whether an update is necessary.
If an update is necessary, CISA recommends performing a security upgrade and switching to DESFire cards (always consult your technician).

Quick facts

Maximum auto-program operations per lock: 60.

Supported operation types:

  • Office-on: lock stays in open/engaged state from Start-time to End-time (*).
  • Lock-out: guest cards are blocked from Start-time to End-time (*).

(*) Operation End-time: by design, the lock stops an auto-program operation 15 minutes after the programmed End-time.

Overwrite behavior: when an auto-programs service card is presented to a lock, the lock is set exactly with the auto-program operations contained in that card: any auto-program operations previously stored in the lock are overwritten by the new set.

If an operation must span midnight, create two operations: one that runs from the Start time until 23:45 and a second that runs from 00:00 to the End time.

Auto-programs management page

In tab "Other", click "Auto-programs" button.
If your account uses role-based permissions with multi-user subscription, an administrator must grant the Auto-programs permission to access this button.

You will see the list of the auto-programs configured for your locks.
An auto-program is a set of automatic operations (max 60) which can be written in a Service card and then set in a lock.

An item "Remove all auto-programs” is always present: with this you can remove any auto-program configuration from the lock.

Buttons / actions available:

  • Add a new auto-program (+): create a new auto-program (opens blank editor);
  • Edit: open an existing auto-program for review or modification;
  • Card: open the service card writing wizard (writes the selected auto-program collection to a service card);
  • Copy: duplicate an existing auto-program;
  • Delete: remove an auto-program from the list.

Create a new auto-program

1

From tab "Other", click on "Auto-programs" and then on "Add a new auto-program (+)".

2

Add one or more auto-program operations using the "Add operation (+)" button.

PLEASE NOTE:
For automatic OFFICE-ON operation, the lock must be configured with the Office function enabled.
For the automatic LOCK-OUT operation, the minimum required version is AERO X, as it applies to guest cards.

3

For each operation configure:

  • Operation type: "Office-on" or "Lock-out";
  • Start time: when the lock should wake up and activate the operation;
  • End time: when the lock should wake up and deactivate the operation;
  • Weekdays: select the days when the operation shall apply.

4

Add auto-program operations as needed (an auto-program collection can include up to 60 operations).

5

Click "Confirm" to apply changes.

Example of auto-program with operations spanning midnight.

Edit an existing auto-program

  1. From tab "Other", click Auto-programs.
  2. Click on Edit button of the line you want to change.
  3. The editor opens with the current configuration (description and operations).
  4. Modify the description, operations, times, weekdays.
  5. Use the minus (–) to remove an operation or plus (+) to add another operation.
  6. Click "Confirm" to apply changes, or "Cancel" to cancel and return to the list.

Service card writing and lock configuration

  1. From tab "Other", click Auto-programs.
  2. In the line of the desired auto-program, click the "Card" button to start the auto-program service card programming.
  3. Present the auto-program service card to a lock
  4. The lock’s auto-program configuration is replaced by the auto-program on the card. Any auto-program operations that were previously stored in the lock are overwritten.

If you want to clear all auto-programs from a lock, click the card button in the line “Remove all auto-programs” to write an empty auto-program service card.
Presenting this service card to a lock, it overwrites and clears whatever auto-programs the lock had.

Troubleshooting

Program not running at expected time

  • Verify Start/End times and weekdays are correct.
  • Verify the lock clock is synchronized.
  • Remember the lock stops an auto-program operation 15 minutes after the programmed End time.
  • Create again the service card with the desired auto-program and present it to the lock.

The Office-on operation does not activate at the scheduled time.

  • Verify that the lock is configured with the office function enabled.
  • If the office function is not enabled, change the configuration, then reset/re-initialize the lock and present the auto-program service card again.
