Installing the USB reader (Mac®)

Your contactless USB reader is bus-powered. Therefore, there is no need to connect an external power supply as all needed current will be supplied by the connected USB port.
Passive USB hubs (e.g. keyboards) cannot be used.

Make sure the USB reader is not connected to the computer.
Make sure you are logged in as an administrator of the computer in which you are installing the drivers.

Unzip the file and install the driver.

 
 

After the installation is completed, plug in the reader.

Start the CISA Reader App with the Launchpad.

When the app logo shows up in the docker, we recommend to set the option to "Open at Login".

When the app is running its logo is displayed in the menu bar.
Initially, the logo is displayed with a yellow gear which means configuration is needed.

Troubleshooting

The CISA Reader App does not detect the CISA USB Reader ACS ACR1281U-C1.

  • Check you have installed the ACS driver.
  • Check the USB reader is plugged in properly (the red led blinks slowly).
  • Check you can find it in your USB devices with the terminal command % system_profiler SPUSBDataType : ACR1281U should be listed.
 

The CISA Reader App panel shows "Card detected" without any card on the reader, or even when the USB reader is not plugged in

  • Exit the app.
  • Replace jar file (in the application content) with the fix below.
  • Re-start the app.
